What is SDPEBA?


SDPEBA stands for the San Diego Public Employee Benefit Association and is a partnership between AFSCME 127 (127), AFSCME 127 Retirees (127 Retirees), City of San Diego Retired Employees Association (CSDREA), Retired Fire and Police Association (RFPA), San Diego Municipal Employees Association (SDMEA),  San Diego Police Officers Association (SDPOA), and the San Diego County Probation Officers Association (SDCPOA).  The goal of SDPEBA is to reduce costs, improve benefits and enhance support. 

The SDPEBA team is the same great team that has administered 127, SDCPOA, SDMEA and SDPOA benefits for the past eleven years.  With the growth in the number of people taking benefits through SDPEBA we have increased our staff to provide the best in class service and support possible for City and County of San Diego active and retired employees and their families.

We want to be there when you need us, so we offer multiple ways to contact us for support:


Our Services Include:

Education - Throughout the year we publish articles on the SDPEBA website that help to educate employees on how their benefits work, and how to get the most out of them.  We also work with Sharp’s Best Health Wellness program to encourage and incentivize your pursuit in achieving your best health, your way!

Enrollment - We hold on-site benefits fairs and orientations throughout the City to bring materials and information to the work place. 

Support Staff - One of the most important things we do is provide support to you for the benefits we offer.  Our team receives thousands of calls and emails throughout the year to assist our participants with any benefits questions or concerns they may have.  It could be something as simple as requesting a plan ID card, to something more complex like getting assistance with a referral to a physician - Every call is important to us…  Please give us a call if you need assistance with any of our plans. 

Case Management - We work diligently to make sure that the plans we sponsor are providing the best service possible, and are abiding by our contracts.  If you should experience any issues with our plan providers, let us know and we will advocate on your behalf to resolve the issue.

Provider Review - Throughout the year we track your questions and concerns to continuously monitor the performance of the plans we offer.  With your feedback we are able to review all issues with our providers, identify trends to address specific items, as well as make changes to continuously improve upon your overall customer experience.

24/7 Self-Support - Although our normal office hours are from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday, after-hours you can still access information through our automated 24/7 Self-Support website.  This site is continuously updated with answers to questions we receive from our participants.  If the answer to your question is not there, our team will respond to your question by the next business day and add your question to the website.
